Welcome to DSASNJ!
It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since KIIDS was formed! What started in 2003 as a handful of parents from South Jersey looking for connection, support and activities for their little ones with Down syndrome has expanded over the years into a robust non-profit organization that provides support to over 120 families, across 7 counties in the Southern New Jersey region.
Over time and as our reach grew, we realized that our original name – Knowledge and Information about Individuals with Down Syndrome – (besides being a mouthful!) did not effectively capture who we are and what we do.
We decided it was time for a name that clearly communicates where we are located and who we serve, optimizes online search engine capability, and aligns with the customary and recognizable naming conventions of the majority of Down syndrome associations (DSAs) throughout the US.
The original kids whose parents sat around a kitchen table back in 2003 are now in their 20s and just as they have grown and blossomed, our organization has grown to serve individuals and families from the prenatal stage to adulthood. We are proud of how far we’ve come but have SO much more we want to do. As of 2024, KIIDS officially became the Down Syndrome Association of Southern New Jersey (DSASNJ). We are grateful for the fellowship and support of all of our families and our community of supporters and invite you to continue to grow with us. We’re excited for the next 20 years!
